Skim Pensijilan Makanan Selamat Tanggungjawab Industri (MeSTI)

Malaysia Food Hygiene Regulation 2009 requires that every owner and occupant of a food manufacturing premises must provide and establish a Food Safety Assurance Program. Food Safety Assurance Program is a well-documented system of practices that guarantees that foods produced will not harm consumers when consumed. Among the Food Safety Assurance Program have been introduced in food manufacturing are: Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), ISO 22000 and so on.

However, the existing Food Safety Assurance Program are relatively difficult to be obtained in food manufacturing premises, especially Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). In this regard, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has introduced an easy-to-obtain scheme and meet the minimum requirements set out in the Malaysia Food Hygiene Regulation 2009, which is recognized as the Skim Pensijilan Makanan Selamat Tanggungjawab Industri  (MeSTI). The MeSTI Certification Scheme is a re-branded scheme to replace the 1Malaysia Food Safety Scheme (SK1M). 

Through the MeSTI consultation and training services, food manufacturer will understand the concept in the development and implementation of the Food Safety Assurance Program, which can further obtain a MeSTI certification under MOH.

Basic Food Safety Assurance System
